The start of my weight loss journey began the 3rd week of February when I met with my Jenny Craig consultant. We discussed my motivation, my goals, and what I hoped to achieve from the program. After my initial weigh-in, I was excited to be introduced to a great feature of the Jenny Craig program, the DNA Weight Loss Kit. The results of the kit will help to create a custom weight loss meal plan based on my genetic profile. During the appointment, I swabbed my cheek and my consultant mailed off my sample to be analyzed. I can’t wait to receive my personalized results and will share about it once I receive them.
I am excited to be on the My Rapid Results plan and was given a calendar meal plan which included 3 meals, 2 snacks, and even dessert. At the end of the appointment, I was given all my meals and food items for the week to bring home. So awesome not to worry about what to eat or how big of a portion to eat as everything is laid out for me. In looking over the Week 1 Menu, I was excited about the variety of items that I will get to try from Chicken Street Tacos to Moroccan Style Spiced Beef Stew. A Chocolate Lava Cake is even on the dessert menu! I was initially concerned with drinking the Milk Chocolate Delight Shake for the morning as I’ve disliked the texture of milkshakes ever since I was young. The shakes are only required every other day and I was proud of myself for being able to finish most of the shake those mornings. By the end of the week, I was able to drink the whole thing without any issues!
A funny side note occurred when I pulled up to the Montclair Jenny Craig Center. I had to laugh as it was in a plaza with a boba tea shop literally next door. It was a great reminder of the temptation that I’ll face as I go through this program, but I look forward to being able to control my food temptations, make healthy choices, and not use food as an emotional crutch.
One of my favorite breakfasts this week was the Classic Waffle and Breakfast Syrup. I toasted the waffle, cut up some bananas, and enjoyed a delicious meal that was quick and easy to make. I also like that with Jenny Craig, you don’t have to give up your favorites. I had a Cinnamon Roll for breakfast one meal and enjoyed a Turkey Burger Sandwich for lunch during another meal. In the back of each box of the meal, they provide some options on how to get creative! For my Turkey Burger Sandwich, I was able to saute some onions and mushrooms to put in my burger to make it extra tasty.

Another favorite meal was the Cauliflower Fried Rice with Chicken & Vegetables that was paired with the Cheesy Broccoli side. Being Asian, I was worried about missing Asian flavors but was so glad to learn that Jenny Craig has a wide variety of meals for everyone. I was able to enjoy my Cauliflower Fried Rice at the same time my kids had fried rice for dinner too.
At the end of the first week, I was proud of getting over my fear of not being able to drink a shake and being able to start a new habit of preparing fruits and vegetables consistently for all my meals. My kids have benefited as well since I’ve been able to prepare fruit ahead of time for their lunches while I’m preparing for my meals for the day. It's been great to have delicious healthy meals already planned and prepared for me without the daily guesswork of what I will eat.
