What’s the recipe for an amazing night of family excitement? Take 12,000 pounds of steel, mix that with the reverberation of thunderous engines, and add a hint of steam and fire. Now launch the whole mixture 50 feet into the air via earthen ramps and… voila! You’ve created the magnificent spectacle known as Monster Jam!
This was our family’s third year in attendance and it seems as though the event becomes bigger and better every year. We started the afternoon at the pit party, which afforded us the opportunity to get up close and personal with the cars and their drivers as well as experience the towering magnitude of the trucks themselves. Fun filled opportunities for the kids abound, including a slide, mini-monster truck racing, a build-your-own truck table, as well as freebies such as coloring pages, stick-on tattoos, and balloon animals.

All of this was topped off with jaw-dropping aerial motocross acrobatics, which primes the pumps perfectly for the main event. It starts off with action packed, head-to-head races, followed by the skills competition, and finishing with the death-defying freestyle competition. The whole night is family friendly and interactive. Each truck competes for your votes as the audience becomes the judge via your smartphone, allowing you to individually score each truck immediately after they finish their turn. This captured our family’s attention because it immersed us into the action. The night is so big and so extreme that there’s truly no such thing as a bad seat. The night felt like it flew by because every minute we were enthralled by the action, which left us excited to return. We would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a night of memories and fun!

Monster Jam Tips:
- Bring ear protection. Especially for the little ones. 1500 horsepower is exciting… but loud
- You can bring unopened water bottles and snacks but any canned sodas or reusable water bottles will be turned away at the gate.
- Parking at the stadium is $25 or nearby businesses have parking for $10. There is also a metro stop and easily accessed public transportation.
- Plan for a late night. The show ends around 9:30 PM so if you’re planning on attending the pit party prior to the show, your little ones may get sleepy towards the end. We recommend napping so you can experience the show in its entirety.
- Check closing times of local restaurants. You may find that businesses you’re used to being open during the baseball season may close earlier than expected in the “off season”… as we unfortunately did.
