THE ERIC CARLE EXHIBIT AT DISCOVERY CUBE OC

January 28 - May 14

By Shirley C. Chang March 3, 2017

Eric Carle has always been a favorite author for my children.  My youngest one still reads them daily.  His pictures are simple and the stories sometimes are profound.   And now all his favorite books has come to life at the Eric Carle Exhibit at Discovery Cube OC.

Come along with us to explore this fun interactive exhibit with five special insects on a journey of discovery.

Each story is a testament to Eric Carle’s’ love of nature, his respect for the emotional lives of children, and his recurring themes of friendship, creativity, and the power of imagination.

· The Very Hungry Caterpillar is about hope. You, like the little caterpillar, will grow up, unfold your wings, and fly off into the future.

· The Very Busy Spider is about work. We need to work and finish our tasks despite our many distractions.

· The Very Lonely Firefly is about belonging. We all want to belong to a group, a family, and our own fellow creatures. Kids can use hand motion to attract fireflies and knock down leaves in a big motion sensor Eric Carle interactive painting.

· The Very Clumsy Click Beetle is about persistence. Each of us faces some obstacles in life, but we need to try and try again until we overcome the challenges.

 · The Very Quiet Cricket is about love. Crickets and people alike go in search of a suitable mate. Kids get to frolic around the moon and create amazing sounds to attract other lighted crickets.

For the little artists out there they can learn how Eric Carle creates his books and those amazing images.  Kids and adults alike can try to make their artwork themselves.

This interactive exhibit was fun for the little ones.  And it's included in your Discovery Cube admission. So, if you get a chance to go, there will be lots more to do in this Science Museum.  Most of the exhibit here are all hands on learning.  So, make sure you set aside enough time to explore the whole place.
