MK REVIEW: LA Zoo Lights!

December 9, 2016

As a family tradition, we try to find at least one place to enjoy Christmas lights.  And this year we had the chance to enjoy it along with many other families with hot cocoa on hand.  The LA Zoo Lights was awarded one of the best places for Holiday Lights. And my kids were delighted to see thousands of LED lights illuminate the whole zoo.  It is one thing to visit the LA Zoo during the day, but at night it's a totally different experience.

Our whole family was dazzled from the very start.  L.A. Zoo Lights does not disappoint.  This year is bigger and better than ever.  In commemoration of Los Angeles Zoo's 50th Anniversary, the lights are shining brighter and more magnificent than ever.  Once inside the zoo, the lights, displays and projections were incredible.  We loved the attention to details especially when they used different lights to reflect some of the water surfaces.  In some cases, the water looks like its dancing with the lights.

Even thought it was at night, some nocturnal animal habitats were lighted and open for visitors to experience.  Going along with the Christmas celebration, we had the chance to visit the real reindeer in this visit.  Our kids were wondering whether the raindeers can get back to Santa on time for Christmas.  It was surely a delight to see these wonderful animals.

The most wonderful thing about visiting L.A. Zoo Lights is that you can take your time and stroll at your own pace.  Remember to pack extra jackets for the kids, it does get a bit chilly at night.  I made sure everyone was warm to last a couple hours at the zoo.  And don't forget to grab that hot cocoa while enjoying the lights.  It makes all the difference.

Whether you are planning to go as a date night or with the entire family, L.A. Zoo Lights is definitely a top 10 for the Holidays.  And this surely will be part of our yearly tradition. The exhibit opened on Friday, November 18, 2016, and remains open for seven weeks through Sunday, January 8, 2017.
